Standard beaded ropes wear through quickly, sending plastic beads flying off like little missiles. ultra ropes have surgical tubing on the bottom where the rope impacts the ground. This has 2 advantages. First, the tubing "absorbs" the impact with the ground on each rotation, ending the ground to bead abrasion that destroys beads.
